Welcome to the website for the English Studies at Large Conference!
English Studies at Large is a student conference hosted by Illinois State University in Normal, IL each spring. It is sponsored by the Lambda Delta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta with support from Illinois State University’s English Department.
Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society. It was founded in 1924 and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. The Lambda Delta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at Illinois State University offers academically excellent students professional, service, and social opportunities. Students often attend and present at the annual national conference, participate in two locally produced journals by publishing their scholarly work or by serving in editorial capacities, and receive numerous scholarships. Illinois State University, located in Normal, IL, is the oldest public university in Illinois. Its graduate program in English is nationally recognized and offers students an English Studies approach to learning; this means graduate students can explore rhetoric and composition, literary and cultural studies, linguistics, critical theory, and pedagogy.
